Swimwear Edit: How to get it right this season.

The jumble sale you see above is what remains of my swimwear from last year. Sorting through what’s left over is something I try to do at the start of each summer and something I would advise everyone to do. A lot can change in 6 months, bikini’s literally perish at the back of the wardrobe. So find a spare hour and edit your swimwear collection, it will pay dividend in the long run.

– Start by checking which items have perished or simply worn out, has the elastic given up the ghost or the clasp lost its snap? The rubber strip sown into the seams for extra grip can also go sticky too.

– Set out what’s left, can any items be replaced or mixed & matched with a new plain piece? Check back with the retailer, some have items left over from last season.

– Try on your bikini’s, do they still fit, has your size changed? Don’t hang on to ill-fitting pieces, nothing worse than an unflattering swimsuit!

-It’s also a good idea to think about what styles and brands suit your shape. Often it’s as much about knowing what styles don’t suit so you don’t make the same mistake twice.

– Divide what’s left into two piles- one for swimming, walking on the beach etc and one for sunbathing and wearing on holiday when you’re all tanned. Look what’s missing. What do you need for this summer? Make it a little list and off you go.
