It’s no secret I LOVE jewellery. Like a stylish magpie, the bigger, bolder and blingier the better! I’m instantly transfixed by jewellery window displays but nothing can quite matches the thrill of commissioning a piece of bespoke jewellery. Once you own a piece of jewellery designed and made with only you mind, the high street can’t compete- like going back to R-T-W after a lifetime of couture.
It won’t be the first time I’ve had a bespoke piece made, the first piece I had made was a ring to commemorate my granddad. The whole experience was cathartic and conducted intuitively at a pace that matched my grief. The longer you work with a jeweller, the easier it is to commute your idea’s. They get to know your style and personality to deliver something more personal than off-the-peg jewellery could ever hope to be.
So I’m at it again, I’m working on a new cuff. Something inspired by the images below. At this point how it will turn out is still unclear, I haven’t decided on a final design but I will keep you posted as the project develops.
Aurélie Bidermann Rose Gold Cuff, £540, Net-A-Porter.
Yossi Harari, Gold Diamond Cuff, £16,000, Net-A-Porter.
David Fowkes (my lovely jeweller) Amber Brooch, POR, David Fowkes.
Be warned it won’t be the cheapest option and it’s addictive but I don’t regret it for a single second.
