The digital revolution left many doubting if print publication would survive. Wholly supporting digital media, I couldn’t imagine a world without hard-copies of Vogue and ELLE. The calming comfort of flicking through this month’s edition with a nice cup of coffee would be greatly missed. Putting aside the nostalgic value, what can print offer that digital can’t?
The front cover loses its bite in digital form. But scoring the front cover of any print publication is still quite a big deal. This month two exceptional covers are featuring; Jourdan Dunn the first black model to grace the cover of British Vogue independently in over a decade, politician David Miliband’s interview is also highlighted on the cover and Lucky magazine has three fashion bloggers on the February edition. All three mark an obvious move away from the traditional ‘smouldering supermodel’ style front cover.
Going forward who would you like to see on the front cover or do you prefer the old format?
