Home is such an under-rated destination, I can’t quite work out why so many people are desperate to ‘get out of the house’ for no reason?
After you’ve spent all that time and effort making your house into a stylish home, there needs to be a pretty good incentive to leave. For me it’s the simplest of things that tempt me to go out- a silky cup of coffee, a tasty slice of carrot cake or an in-store beauty launch. It doesn’t have to be anything flash like tea at the Ritz, it just needs to spark my imagination. Otherwise I just don’t see the point, why not enjoy what’s right in front of you…
I’m giving my green fingers at work out this year with my onion, garlic and bean crops. There so easy to grow, just plant and water daily. Above is the first bunch of spring onions from the crop all tied up with ribbon.
The best my garden has to offer. Delphiniums put on a fabulous display and come in the rarest of all colours in the garden- blue. Ready for my top gardening tip…. buy the oldest type of rose you can find, they smell the sweetest and have the most unique and distinctive fragrance (the one above is called Tequila Sunrise).
My dad is the handyman extraordinaire who built this swing. I convinced him to paint it blue. It’s the perfect spot to rest in the afternoon with a nice cup of Turkish apple tea.
The lavender is one of my favourite scents in the garden. It’s irresistible to bees and I can never resist running my fingers through the bushy lavender tufts as I wander past.
And this is where the magic happens, my little hideaway at the bottom of the garden (aka FFH HQ). The set of draws came from Out There Interiors and the note board I made myself from an old picture, re-spraying the frame gold and board cream. The chair is an antique I bought from eBay.
